Grand Turk Heritage: Glorious Poetry

His illustrious son Ertugrul was at the forefront of fast learners in all spheres of warfare and guerrilla rivalry strategies. As a teenager, Ertugrul Bey, with a small contingent of tribal mates, had pursued enemies vying to attack their camps and undermine freedom.

Historically, the Oghuz, Seljuk, and Khorasan Turks were known to be the most loyal, daring, brave, and exceptionally audacious warriors. They had served as bodyguards, and part of military elites in the Abbasside and Byzantine forces.  Honesty and the ability of Oghuz Turks to resist temptation in the face of comfort and luxury were well-recognised centuries-old traditions and characteristics.

Long before the inception of the Ottoman state, culminating eventually into an Ottoman Empire, the struggle for the protection of human rights had awakened Oghuz Turks in the likes of Suleyman Shah, a renowned leader of the Kayi tribe. He was conscious of dominant Byzantine Christians' tactics to undermine and demoralise the Turkish nomadic population living in scattered tents across the Syrian border and in the mountainous region of Bursa His illustrious son Ertugrul was at the forefront of fast learners in all spheres of warfare and guerrilla rivalry strategies. This creative publication brings into our memory Robert Louis Stevenson, a renowned Scottish poet who composed rhyming poems to great effect. The same practice was followed by several young poets of the last century.

Unsurprisingly, each lyric in this publication contains harmonious sounds, mesmerising echoes, and spellbinding symphonies. The Poet Professor Ahmad diligently navigates his creativity, articulates thoughts, enunciates historical knowledge, and portrays a vivid picture of his farsighted observations. He openly concedes unwavering love for the Turkish people, clearly apparent in poems, and through stanzas acknowledges his fascination with monumental personalities, nation builders, Sufi Saints, and natural wonders. His introduction to this literary treasure incorporates thoroughly searched Turkish archives, offering insight into the historical facts, Pre-Ottoman and Post-ottoman struggles, tribal composition, and Oghuz Khan’s Turkic ancestries, tribes’ settlements, and Sultan Osman’s companions' unchallenged victories leading to the capture of Bursa and Istanbul.
